Finland’s acclaimed ceramic artist, Birger Kaipiainen (1915-1988), graduated from the Central School of Arts and Crafts, London, and was discovered and hired by Arabia where he held a position in the art department for over fifty years as well as four years with Rorstrand in Sweden.

These rare birds were crafted out of thousands of handmade beads created by Kaipiainen's assistant, Terho Reijonen.
